FAQs
WHAT IS ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP?

If you are interested in the history of the Mayflower, her Pilgrim passengers, and the colonial time period, but are unable to prove a Mayflower lineage, you can still participate in our programs by becoming an Associate Member! Also, if you are a GSMD member living outside geographical Europe, you can still be part of the SMD(E) through our Associate Membership programme. We would love to have you join the conversation and fun with our community. Everyone is welcome!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FULL AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP?
-
Full Members have verified their lineal descent from a Mayflower passenger.
-
Full Members live in Europe.
-
Full Members have the right to vote, serve on the Board, and to claim GSMD membership.
-
Associate Members are not required to prove lineal descent from a Mayflower passenger.
-
Associate members can live anywhere; there is no residency requirement.
-
Associate members cannot vote, serve on the board, or claim GSMD membership, and have no association with nor receive benefits from the GSMD.
All members, both Full and Associate, are invited to participate in SMD(E) membership events (we welcome non-lineage adult family members, such as spouses, to become Associates, too! Under-18s may accompany their parents so that families may attend SMD(E) events together, but this is done so entirely at the parents’ discretion and risk).
Members must be over the age of 18.

DO YOU OFFER LIFE MEMBERSHIP?
We do not currently.

DO YOU OFFER A YOUTH MEMBERSHIP?
We do not currently offer a Youth Membership. Full and Associate membership is open to those over 18 years of age only.

WHAT IS A SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION?
It is not unusual for Mayflower Society members to be descended from multiple passengers. Once a Full Member’s lineage is established through an initial passenger, the other lines of descent can be verified at a lower cost. These are the Supplemental Applications and are available to Full Members only. For each successful Supplemental the member will receive an additional certificate. See Supplemental fees in the Fees and Dues section.
