It is wonderful that you have washed up here in the wake of the Mayflower! Her passengers, that mixed band of ruffians, idealists, and dreamers, gifted us with an unrivalled opportunity to trace their stories. We know what happened before they sailed; we know the suffering and wild adventures that they survived at sea; we know the agonies and triumphs that came after their voyage. We also have a fairly good idea of who did what and with whom, completely off the record. For some of us, the evidence lies within our own family tree; the people who took part in the Mayflower’s epic 1620 journey became our ancestors.
